Resolved Question: What is a Salem house?

I have tried to research it, but any google searches give the most random answers :S. I think a Salem house is maybe somewhere someone might have worked in the seventeenth century? or maybe the eighteenth, but I'm not sure. I don't even know if it's somewhere somebody would work.
