Open Question: Is pancreatic stenting for pancreatic divisum dangerous?

I have discovered I have a pancreatc divisum which causes me a large amount of pain, and my GI doctor wants to do an ERCP with stent placement to help drain my fluids. However, when I went to Wake Forest Baptist in Winston Salem, NC, the doctor down there said he would rather not do the surgery because it can cause severe pancreatitis and I could be hospitalized for weeks or longer. Also, since im only 18 he said I would have to get it done every 3-5 years. Have you ever had this done and what would you reccomend?
